Ultimate Frisbee Athlete Recovers from Knee Surgery

Each month, Iron Physical Therapy highlights a special patient to tell their inspiring story. We want to honor people who go all in - body, mind and spirit. They show us what’s possible - that you can move on from a setback to do amazing things...to challenge your body, to chase your dreams, to address future pain in a healthy way, to #getbetterbebetter. This was such a challenging YEAR for Yoni, but this student athlete worked incredibly hard to recover from multiple severe injuries which ultimately required knee surgery. Every step of the way, he adapted and persevered to get the most out of PT. During the early months of COVID when we couldn’t be in-person, Yoni was my BEST telehealth patient because of his motivation and compliance. I’m really proud of everything Yoni accomplished in PT, and I can’t wait to see the great things ahead.

In Yoni’s own words…

1. What brought you into physical therapy?

I dislocated my knee in February 2020 and then had a re-injury that required surgery. After the surgery in September and four months of rehab, I am feeling better than ever!

2. Any advice someone living in pain?

For anyone living in pain I would say to reach out and get help! Getting rid of pain is an easy fix, and physical therapy will help you get back into shape as soon as possible!

3. What accomplishment in physical therapy are you most proud of?

My proudest moment was the first time running after my surgery. It took about 3.5 months, but once I was able to, it felt amazing.

5. What are you most excited about getting back to after PT?

I am most excited to get back to playing sports like ultimate frisbee, baseball and soccer while being able to run pain free. Sports have always been my passion, and after all this rehab, I can’t wait to get back to it.
