Where in the world is Iron Physical Therapy?

One of our favorite things to do is get out in the community to be with the athletes we care about so much. There is no greater joy than seeing people experience the power of movement in their own lives, especially when we’ve gotten to be part of their recovery journey.

Over the last few months, we’ve been movin’ and shakin’ all over the Caldwell and Midland Park area to be part of some great local events in NJ. If you’ve been competing or racing recently, you’ve probably seen our big red tent around town. If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, we hope you come on over next time to grab a quick stretch, free Iron bag or to ask one of our PTs any questions you have about training or injuries.

Oh the Races We’ve Been…

Montclair Bread Company 5 Mile Race to bRUNch - Montclair, NJ

This race was such a treat ; ) We kicked off racing season in Montclair with one of our favorite running groups, Fueled By Doughnuts. This 5-mile race was extra special because not only did Dr. Mayes and Dr. Castania (two of our PTs) finish strong, but they got to see patient and Montclair Bread Company owner, Rachel Wyman, complete the course after recovering from a serious bike injury.

Goodwill Shamrock Shuffle 5K - Ridgewood, NJ

St. Patrick’s Day is always a great reason to celebrate with a run, and we especially loved taking care of local runners near our new Iron Physical Therapy location in Midland Park.

DeNovo Harriers 4 x 2 Mile Relay - Saddle Brook, NJ

It was our first time sponsoring this great event in Saddle River County Park. Teams came from all over the state to compete for the title, and the relay added an extra element of excitement and camaraderie.

Lap the Lake - Franklin Lakes, NJ

It was a perfect day for swimmers to complete a 1/2 Mile, 1 Mile or 2 Mile course at beautiful Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes.. Dr. Mayes competed in this event with several other members of the Iron Triathlon Club and everyone had a great experience all around.

Wyckoff/Franklin Lakes Triathlon

This was an exciting day for Dr. Wortman who chose this event to be her first triathlon. She represented Iron Physical Therapy - Midland Park so well as both a participant and sponsor.

Fitzgerald’s Lager Run 5K - Glen Ridge, NJ

It doesn’t get much better than beer and running! We always have an absolute blast at this race where many of our staff and DPTs enjoy running the 5K in between working on runners before and after the race. It’s so rewarding to see so many of our patients and friends get to do what they love.

Verona Labor day Classic - Verona, nj

This 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run organized by Essex Running Club is a local favorite! It’s always a family affair for Iron PT’s owners as various combinations of relatives have completed this race together over the last 6+ years including their daughters who haven’t stopped since.

Ridgewood Triathlon Club - Ridgewood, NJ

Early in the year, we hosted the thriving Ridgewood Triathlon Club at Iron Physical Therapy’s Midland Park location for a session on “Becoming a Better Triathlete.” Pro coaches Chris & Elizabeth did an amazing job talking about what the best triathletes do to maximize their results. We look forward to more collaborations with this active club in the future.

Bergen County Community College - Paramus, NJ

Dr. Wortman had the pleasure of speaking to a room full of Bergen County Community College professors about real strategies for back pain. So many people aren’t aware of the many ways they can avoid or minimize back pain, so it was a meaningful time for all of the participants.

Fleet Feet No Boundaries - Montclair, NJ

One of our very favorite programs is Fleet Feet’s No Boundaries group which helps beginners train for a local 5K as part of a safe and supportive training program. We absolutely love speaking to this group about injury prevention and the power of movement in their lives.

Health Fair at Grover Cleveland Middle School - Caldwell, NJ

The Middle School is located directly behind Iron Physical Therapy in Caldwell, so we love to visit any chance we get. It was great to be part of their first ever health fair, and we look forward to many more years supporting wellness in our local youth.

Bike MS - Long Branch, NJ

Iron Physical Therapy had our biggest team ever to ride 25 miles in Bike MS to raise funding to create a world free of Multiple Sclerosis. We’ve been participating in this ride for many years, so if you want to join us in 2020, please send an email to livewell@ironpt.com so we can keep you in the loop.

Caldwell (CWC) Soccer Day - West Caldwell, NJ

I think Dr. Mayes had even more fun than the kids at CWC Soccer Day. Since both of his daughters play soccer with CWC, he had some great helpers to hand out Iron PT drawstring bags and run some fun drills for the players. We hope the soccer community knows exactly where they can go if injury happens during the season.

Denovo Harriers Injury Prevention - Bergen County, NJ

Dr. Wortman had a blast logging some miles with the fantastic Denovo Harriers running group, and then spent some time speaking to members about strength training specifically for runners to prevent injury!

Brazen Cup (Crossfit Competition) - Brazen Athletics in Fairfield, NJ

Iron Physical Therapy Caldwell will be hosting a tent at Brazen Athletics to stretch out the athletes, and Dr. Mayes will actually be competing this year, so keep you eyes on social to see how it goes.

Midland Park 5K: Run for Education - Midland Park, NJ

We can’t wait to be part of The Midland Park Public Education Foundation’s 5K and Kids Fun Run on 9/14/19. This is always such a great community event for everybody.

Crossfit Waldwick (Warrior slam CrossFit Competition) - Waldwick, NJ

Iron Physical Therapy Midland Park will be taking care of the athletes as a sponsor at this local crossfit competiion on 9/21/19. You can still register here. They’ll have Normatec recovery boots on hand to keep everyone in top form. And as a special treat, two of our staff members (Gina and Dr. Wortman) will be competing at the event.

Franklin Lakes Scenic Half Marathon, 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run- Franklin Lakes, NJ

We’re excited to sponsor this upcoming race put on by the Wyckoff Family YMCA and the Franklin Lakes Mayor’s Wellness Campaign on 9/29/19 Come visit us at the Iron tent for a stretch before or after the race.

FLEET FEET MONTCLAIR - SUPPORTED LONG RuN SERIES

We can’t wait to take care of runners participating in Fleet Feet’s supported long runs this fall on 9/22, 10/ and 10/22. This is a great way to get in those fall miles with friends and hydration/nutrition along the way,

Montclair Bread Co. 5K Doughnut Run - Montclair, NJ

This is a cult-favorite, and one of ours too!!! Montclair Bread Company's annual 5K Doughnut Run on 12/8/19 promises to be the tastiest 5K ever with hot Apple Cider, Stumptown Coffee and MBCo's doughnuts after every mile on the course and at the finish line!!! Finishers will receive a medal and a long-sleeve tech shirt.
