Jackie is a pickleball player who hurt her shoulder while playing in a game last year. She attempted conservative care before ultimately needing to undergo a surgical repair of her rotator cuff. Jackie has worked tirelessly through her rehabilitation and every up and down, including the need for an MUI (manipulation under anesthesia) after encountering a severe amount of scar tissue deposition early in her rehab process.

Our Patient of the Month is determined, motivated and shares her positive outlook on life with everyone she encounters. She is encouraging to other patients around her and never gives up even when things get tough!

Jackie is an all star Patient of the Month and on her way back to the pickle ball courts…so watch out!

In Jackie’s Own Words…

1) List Three Words to Describe You:

Athletic, competitive, social

2)  What Brought You Into Physical Therapy?

I fell playing pickleball and injured my shoulder. I tried PT, but later got an MRI showing a torn rotator cuff. I then came back for post surgery physical therapy.

3) How would you describe physical therapy?

I am a true believer in physical therapy! I have had several injuries and issues over the years. The physical therapists will work with you to help alleviate pain through massage, manipulation and demonstration of exercises to strengthen the area to prevent future and further injury. I have come back from two knee surgeries with great success and I am aiming to rehab my shoulder so I can play pickleball, yoga and even do pullups and pushups again.

4)  What would you say to someone who is living in pain and putting off physical therapy?

I truly believe physical therapy can help in most cases and if not, will point you in the right direction if surgery is needed.

5) What are you excited to get back to after physical therapy?

Playing pickleball, biking, swimming, yoga and just being strong again.

6) What did you enjoy most about the physical therapy experience?

My final breakthrough after weeks of trying to get my full range of motion back in my shoulder. My range of motion was very slow to come back, and I was finally able to move with limited tightness and pain. I love reaching for the rings and trying to hang from them! I thought I would never get there! I am so thankful to the staff at Iron Physical Therapy!!
